Camp was established in 1981 and is well maintained by the Gold Country Trails Council. There are 11 camp sites, 9 corrals, and plenty of room for high lines and additional corrals. GCTC have built a nice connector trail to the PCT, as well as a new trail that is close to camp site #1 that connects to the Pass Loop Road.
The PCT is 3/4 miles away on a good trail, and you can go many miles in either direction. Do be aware that if you turn right on the PCT, there is a narrow, shaley spot that is not for those who are afraid of heights, and that you will have to cross the creek as the bridge is unsuitable for horses. When you get to the creek, take trail to the right, go 100 yards or so and there will be a place to cross where the boulders are not large. This is not a trail for beginners.
There are many loops to ride that include some logging roads, so its a good idea to have shoes or boots.
DIRECTIONS: I 80 east (towards Reno) At Truckee take the Hwy 89 exit towards Sierraville. (Exit #188B) then left at the stoplight. Travel approximately 15 miles to the (left) turn to Jackson Meadows Res. The sign on the right reads: Independence Lake, Weber Lake, Jackson Meadows Res. This left turn is at the crest of an incline and can come up suddenly. After the turn, in a short distance on the right, is a nice parking lot and rest room. From there it is about 14 scenic miles to the East Meadow turn (left). There are several mileage signs as you travel along, giving the distance to Jackson Meadows. DO NOT TURN LEFT AT THE FIRST PASS CREEK LOOP. Turn left at the East Meadow sign (also a Horse Camp sign). After a short distance the road crosses a metal bridge. Just after the bridge turn left on the good gravel road (Pass Creek Loop). Continue 1.5 miles to the cattle guard and Little Lasier Meadow Horse Camp. There are two entrances into camp. One after crossing the cattle guard or stay on the main road and continue past the rest room, then left into camp.
GPS 39.49056, -120.51556 If using Google, DO NOT TURN LEFT AT THE FIRST PASS CREEK LOOP.
They have provided a manure-only bin close to the four plex corral. Use it.
